MUSC | Graduate Application 2020

Thank you for your interest in the Department of Music at the University of Arkansas. This application form is a supplement to your application with the Graduate School and International Studies. The Graduate School has moved your application to the Department vetting process, we use this form to collect additional data for that process.

You will be asked specific music related questions about your history in the field and your goals in graduate study here at the University of Arkansas. Additionally, you will be asked up upload area specific materials based on your chosen field of study. Those required materials include:

  • Performance and Collaborative Piano applicants should submit pre-screening recordings of at least two pieces in contrasting style. Most applicants also come to campus for an in-person audition.
  • Music Education applicants should have an undergraduate degree in music education, and at least one year of  teaching experience is preferred. A video of recent classroom teaching experience is required. An interview will be schedule for applicants.
  • Music History and Music Theory applicants must submit a writing sample representative of their work, as well as scores for the Graduate Record Exam.
  • Composition applicants must submit scores to three original compositions.
  • Instrumental Conducting and Choral Conducting applicants must submit a video recording of the applicant conducting two contrasting pieces. Performance footage is preferred, but rehearsal footage will be accepted. Select applicants may be invited to an on-campus audition.
